Hello sensitive hearts,
Have you ever felt the need to doubt something to check its effectiveness?
Well, that is human nature, no?
Although I don't doubt the effect of abstract art on my mind and body, I like to test its effectiveness at different times and in different ways.
My mind poses questions to me that tickle my scientific curiosity: 'What if it doesn't work in this scenario, Pranita?' 'What if it does, Pranita?'
[P.S. - My name is Pranita :).]
Anyway, my weekend was filled with social activities. This morning, I felt like I wasn't able to feel the whole of me.
I felt overwhelmed with unprocessed information and emotions. It made me feel drowsy.
A part of my routine for my Monday blog posts is to paint an artwork for the cover image (most often). Today, I put on my scientific lenses and decided to conduct an experiment while painting a cover image.
I went all Dexter on myself (the character from the cartoon and not the TV series).
I took a cup of black coffee and put it next to my painting table. Then, I decided to paint. I wanted to test, if I would require the coffee to feel less stimulated and more fresh.
I finished my painting, and I did a partial body scan (i.e., a short mindfulness activity to check my stimulation levels). I measured the levels of drowsiness. Additionally, I rated the unprocessed information and stimulation.
After the first painting, I still felt stimulated. There were still some emotions floating in my body that didn't feel like mine.
So, I painted one more artwork. This time, I went wild and painted all my intense emotions. It was freeing!
I did a partial body scan again. This time, I was feeling less stimulated and less emotionally charged, but I was still feeling drowsy.
So, folks, I had that cup of coffee.
I did a partial body scan once more and compiled a small chart of results.
Here are the compiled results:
{Please note: The measurement has been done on a scale of 1 to 10, wherein, 1 is the lowest measure and 10 is the highest.}
Level of drowsiness | Level of unprocessed information | Level of stimulation from others' emotions | |
Before the 1st artwork | 9/10 | 10/10 | 8/10 |
After the 1st painting | 8/10 | 7/10 | 7/10 |
After the 2nd painting | 7/10 | 4/10 | 4/10 |
After the cup of coffee | 5/10 | 4/10 | 4/10 |
So, folks, from these results, I can conclude that working with abstract art for a longer span had a significant impact on my emotional overwhelm, stimulation, and information processing levels.
I felt that I was able to process my emotions. I felt relieved from the effects of stimulation as well.
[Please note: Here, I utilized my experience with energy healing modalities, emotional sensitivity education, intuition, and artistic practices to measure drowsiness, stimulation, and information processing.]
On today's date, my body-mind did not have an effect on my drowsiness level with abstract art as much as the caffeine in my coffee. Vice versa, the coffee didn't have much effect on my unprocessed information levels.
The results are subjective. They will vary from person-to-person and from time-to- time. However, the bottom line is that abstract art can benefit stimulated, highly sensitive people in the morning.
Isn't this experiment fascinating?
I feel extremely motivated about my choice of coping tool for my highly sensitive nervous system.
This experiment that stemmed from doubt also demonstrates that doubt often tries to creep up between what we love. However, if one is resilient with that love, the universe supports our experiments with doubt.
No?
