Often, when I share my high sensitivity with a person who doesn't know about high sensitivity, they mistake the term for mental health disorders. Highly sensitive people can have mental health issues, however, research suggests that the trait of high sensitivity is related to the nervous system and one's genetic makeup.
It has been studied that there are ten genes that could determine if a person is highly sensitive. Scientific studies suggest that the trait could be inherited too.
It is important to remember that highly sensitive people could have a difference in their genetic makeup that makes them sensitive to various stimuli.

I identify as a highly sensitive person and an empath. I do accept my high sensitivity as a part of me. I accept it because I know that it isn't temporary.
It is my remarkable gift. It is mine. It is here to stay.
[Please know that my self-acceptance about my trait has come from continuous work on my body-related beliefs. I have taken my sweet time to reach this stage.]
Talking about gifts, abstract art is also a gift.
There is so much that abstract art can give us!
I understand that many sensitive people feel that they might not understand what they are seeing in an abstract artwork. However, here's where one can utilize high sensitivity.
Highly sensitive people have an innate ability to be creative as well. We sensitive souls have a creative heart. So, dear highly sensitive soul, if you find an abstract artwork calling to you, I suggest utilizing your creative heart to understand it.
So, don't let fears get to you :).
