Abstract art is defined as ‘art that does not attempt to represent an accurate depiction of a visual reality but instead uses shapes, colors, forms and gestural marks to achieve its effect’ (Tate Museum, UK).
To me, abstract art is more than a representation or depiction of something.
To me, abstract art is what pulls me forward in life. It’s a form of expression that helps me understand my emotions, thoughts, and feelings.
Let’s take this picture for example:

I painted it when I felt there was no way out of a problem. I started with a base layer, added another coat of paint, and added some texture. I made sure to continue exploring my artistic guidance until I heard myself saying, ‘Yes, I have some hope to move forward with my problem.’
Throughout my life, I’ve read a lot of content about hope and creativity. I know the positive impact it can have on the journey of a highly sensitive person. If you think about it, my blog is essentially supporting highly sensitive people with hope and creative inspiration.
The act of reading is creative. Of course, painting is also creative. In my opinion, both of them have elements of abstract art. When we read something from our perspective, we learn what might seem abstract to others. Similarly, when we paint something from our perspective, we create something that could seem abstract to others.
So, dear highly sensitive soul, if you have found me and my art, please know that:
1. In my time as a reader/learner, I’ve had the chance to read content that truly touched me and helped me take a baby step. I always wish for radical changes in my life. Unfortunately, no matter my motivation to change my situation, radical changes never happen in my life. What I do manage to achieve was many baby steps that eventually lead to a radical change.
So, don’t dismiss your inclination towards viewing my art and reading my content about high sensitivity, creativity, and art.
2. If you resonate with my art, then know that there could be a part of you that resonates with my idea of abstract art too.
3. If you feel inclined towards buying my art, then it's not just because you want art in your life, but it could also be because that particular artwork inspires you to be you in some way.
So, I welcome you to keep reading and viewing my work. I welcome you to join me to hear my voice, yourself, and to be creatively inspired, here in Expressive Sensitive.
