Whenever I am around many people, I tend to absorb their energies and emotions. I have been working with energy healing modalities for three years. My spiritual practices make it slightly easier for me to recognize when I am overwhelmed by others emotions/energies. However, I have observed that painting can have a similar effect on me, as a meditation would have on me (most times).
I have realized that abstract art releases the fears one has towards others energies and emotions. Then, when the fear is less, it is easier to be more aware of one's feelings and thoughts.
Otherwise, sometimes, it can feel like one is swimming in a pool of different emotions of varied intensities. We wouldn't want that, would we?
Dear highly sensitive soul, I want you to know that if you go through such experiences, you are not alone.
Abstract art is not difficult to learn. However, it can be challenging to push oneself to paint every time one feels overwhelmed.
'What will art do?' 'This sounds silly'! 'Let me go and meditate or utilize a spiritual tool that could calm me down.' These are some thoughts and feelings beginners can have while learning to manage one's overwhelm.
However, I do want to say that practice can make things easier. It can make one remember quicker that, 'hey! I have abstract art as a tool too. I can try other ways to support myself.'
I am not dissing any spiritual practice. However, in my experience, it can be dull to keep meditating. It helps to use creative ways of decreasing overwhelm, especially when one is creatively inclined.
I wish you can try abstract art, and I know that you will always find motivation to be yourself and creative in Expressive Sensitive.
Give yourself a break from swimming in an emotional pool of others. Pick up the brush!
