An empath's heart vs their body in happy times

I've been feeling deeply about children recently. Yesterday, I came across an 11-year-old published author and illustrator. My heart expanded listening to him speak. He was a positive, curious, and inspired young boy. We connected at a level beyond our age, and it was beautiful.

I felt like my heart had grown so big that I forgot that the rest of my body existed.

He had a pen hung to his collar. I thought he forgot to remove it and told him it was there. To which, he replied, 'I know the pen is there. My mom told me to keep it there and to use it to give autographs by the end of the evening.'

Dear reader, I melted.

He then went on to ask my age. His parents looked at him with embarrassment. However, I told him I was 30 years old. To which, he replied, '30? 30? 30?'. I asked him to guess my real age. He said, 'I think you are more like 13 years of age.'

Dear reader, I screamed with joy.

'13?' I replied, feeling my heart trying to jump out of my chest.

That's the magic of being an empath. We often speak about the difficulties of being an empath. However, it is so magical to feel the happy times too.

Dr. Judith Orloff speaks about expressing our needs in her book, 'The Empath’s Survival Guide: Life Strategies for sensitive people'. She says, 'express your empathetic needs. It's too painful to deny your own sensitivities to make other people comfortable.'

Although this might seem like a sentence that refers to critical needs, I think it can be utilized for one's needs to express and feel happiness too. I do believe that it is important to feel our hearts expand as a response to joyous situations.

The abstract art in this post is a dedication to my empathic heart and my body which feels overwhelmed by the expansion of my heart. I have utilized colors such as white, neon pink, neon orange, black, and neon green to make this artwork. It is made on paper. I have created it by channeling my emotions and intuition.

I have titled my art 'An empath's heart vs their body in happy times'. It is an abstract artwork that is a metaphor for an empath's heart state and body state during intense joyous occurrences. It shows the correlation between the way my heart functions and my body functions during an empath experience.

The neon green circle represents the size of my body during intense heart expansion occurrences.

In summary, this artwork aims to raise education surrounding the bodily effects of the emotion of happiness for an empath. It also aims at encouraging empaths and highly sensitive people to embrace themselves.
